Calling All Parents To Please Pause For One Minute
Look At Your Chid, That Minuature Image
You Know They Are Counting On You
To Lift Them Up And Get Them Through
To Instill Confidense And Self Esteeem
To Convince Them There's No Distance Too Far For Them To Reach
They Look To You To Discover Who They Are
Your Words Can Make Them Soar Above The Stars
The Way You Treat Them As They Grow Up
Will Form The Kind Of Adults They Become
Children Are Born Innocent And Clean
They Look Through Their Parents Eyes To See
Will You Scream At Them In Anger, Instilling Anxiety And Fear
Or Will You Patiently Explain While You Draw Them Near
Will You Call Them Names, Forever Weighing Them Down With Shame
Or Will You Show Them The Right Way, Without Assigning Blame
Think Back To When You Were A Little Kid
Think About How Important It Was What Your Parents Said And Did
Did They Hit You And Call You Names
Ridicule You When You Made A Mistake
Children Are Innocent Blank Slates Entrusted To Us From The Lord
That Are So Very Precious, Not To Be Abused Or Ignored
We Write On Their Slates Everyday From The Time They Are Born
They Believe Everything We Tell Them Is The Truth Solemnly Sworn
So Take A Moment And Look At Your Life
How You Treat Them Is What They Will Most Likely Look For In A Husband And A Wife
Is How You Treat Them What You Want Them To Look For As Grown Ups?
Is What Your Instilling In Them Going To Hold Them Down Or Let Them Soar Above?
Not Only Should Your Child Your Unconditional Love But Also That Of The Lord
For In This World A Child Can Never Have Too Much Support
One Day He Will Call You Home And They Will Need To Lean On Him
He Will Guide Them And Protect Them Every Bit As Much As You Ever Did.
