Reflections (Song I Wrote Last Year)
(written by Candice Landis 9/19/2012)
She Sits Alone Facing Her Fears
Looking Back Reflecting On The Years
She Hears The Voices Echoing From The Past
Two Little Girls, Grown Up So Fast
Their Bedroom Doors Now Remain Closed
They're All Grown Up Now, Have Lives Of Their Own
She Gave Them Her Best For Twenty Years
Love And Laughter, Guidance And Tears
Living In Silence With A Stranger Every Day
After Twenty Three Years, There's Nothing Left To Say
He's Become Someone She Doesn't Really Know
Somewhere Along The Path They Took Different Roads
Two Strangers In A House Grown Cold
She Wonders What Their Futures Hold
Will She Go Her Own Way ? Will He Go His?
Or Should They Both Just Settle For This
Now It's Just The Two Of Them Left With An Empty Nest
She Wonders At Forty What's In Store For Her Next
Does She Have The Courage To Stand On Her Own?
To Face Life And What Ever It Holds Alone?
She Married So Young, Thought She Knew What Life Was About
Raised Her Children And Sent Them Out
Now Faced With Loneliness She Feels So Bleak
A Love Once Strong Now Shattered And Weak
Two Strangers In A House Grown Cold
She Wonders What Their Futures Hold
Will She Go Her Own Way ? Will He Go His?
Or Should They Both Just Settle For This
She Lays The Note She Wrote On His Pillow
I'm Sorry, But We Both Know, It's Time For Me To Go
We Did A Good Job , Made The Best Of What We Had
We Have Two Beautiful Children And For That I'm Glad
You Are A Good Man And A Wonderful Dad
But Now It's Time For Us To Follow Different Paths
We Did What Were Meant To Do
And For All Your Help In Seeing It Through, I Thank You
Two Strangers In A House Grown Cold
She Wonders What Their Futures Hold
Will She Go Her Own Way ? Will He Go His?
Or Should They Both Just Settle For This
